Benefits Of Using Activated Charcoal Powder On Skin

Charcoal powder is essential when added to your skin. The charcoal has a property which has the ability to absorb toxins from your body hence making it a suitable remedy to use for cleansing and detoxifying.

Activated charcoal has no chemical added to it- it is all natural and therefore cannot affect your skin when you use it. It is mild and can be used on the most sensitive of skin. Activated charcoal will cause any allergic reactions.

What is Activated Charcoal?

Well, activated charcoal is simply common charcoal that has been heated in a way that it develops a lot of small spaces or ‘pores’ in it that trap chemicals.

It is produced by small particles of carbonaceous substances such as saw dust & coconut shells heated to very high temperatures, which forms charcoal. To ‘activate’ the charcoal, steam or very hot air is used to erode the internal surfaces thereby increasing its absorptive surface area. This absorptive surface area is the one which draws out harmful substances, toxins and impurities from deep within the skin.

Benefits of activate charcoal on skin

1# Suitable for All Skin Types

The best part of using Activated charcoal is that it can be used for all skin types. Even if the skin is sensitive, with inflammation and redness, or if you have allergies on the skin, Activated charcoal can be used without any worry. This is why, most medicine companies and cosmetic companies don’t hesitate using Activated charcoal as their main ingredient.

With that, we come to an end explaining the benefits of using Activated charcoal for skin. Now let’s take a look at some of the face scrubs and face packs we can make at home the DIY way, for all skin types and which are easy to use involving Activated charcoal, shall we!

2# Deep clean your skin

Send your chemical-ridden deep-cleaners on a little vacation. You can find cleansers that contain activated charcoal in bars or bottles. It’s important that you don’t use these daily, as you don’t want to soak up the healthy oils and moisture your skin needs. Check out the other ingredients if you’re buying a liquid cleanser’some are designed to neutralize the acidity in your skin, others have deodorizing properties; some can even double as shaving cream. Buy the product that best suits your personal combination of needs and follow the directions on the bottle.

3# Make pores smaller and cleaner

Throughout the day, toxins from the world around us clog our pores. When your pores aren’t clear, neither is your complexion. Activated charcoal’when used in a face mask‘binds to and helps pull the dirt out of your pores, making them less visible (it’s the oil and dirt that makes them appear bigger). This leaves your face feeling fresh. (Use it with an exfoliating scrub to get the dead skin off and experience an even deeper clean.)

4# Take care of oily skin

Oily skin? Activated charcoal may be just the ingredient you need to balance things out. Used in a cleanser or mask, activated charcoal can pull the unwanted excess oils from your skin, leaving it smooth. You’ll want to do this sparingly’once or twice per week at the most’so that you don’t over-dry your skin. If you already have dry skin, best to steer clear of it for this use, as you don’t want to dry it out even more.

5# Treat acne

Depending on the specifics of your acne’how severe it is, what’s causing it and what else is going on’activated charcoal may be able to help. In soap form, it’s slightly gritty, which might provide just the gentle exfoliating you need. It will also absorb oils and toxins on and below the skin. You can use it as a spot treatment if you don’t want to use it on your whole face’just think of it as a mini mask for your blemish.

6# Whitens Dark Underarms

Activated charcoal is a popular remedy for whitening dark underarms. It exfoliates the area, sucks out impurities, lifts the dark dead skin cells and even neutralizes underarm odor!

7# Soothe and heal bites, cuts and skin irritations

Whether you  were stung by a bee or had a cut from the kitchen that’s wound up infected, activated charcoal can help speed the healing and relieve the symptoms. For minor skin ailments’including insect bites, stings, cuts, scrapes and minor infections’activated charcoal can be applied topically. The activated charcoal, when applied as a paste, helps absorb venom and infection. It will also bring down swelling and lessen pain. To make the paste: slowly add water to a bit of activated charcoal powder and mix until it is a spreadable consistency.

8# Clears Blackheads

What are blackheads? Blackheads happen when the dirt and the grime or the dead skin cells enter the hair follicles or the pores and settle there. This doesn’t allow the sebum to flow out and hence a mound is created. This is why estheticians use face packs and scrubs, made from Activated charcoal. The Activated charcoal vacuums and sucks out the dirt from the pores, and gives it a deep cleansing treatment. This leaves behind soft, supple and clean skin with shrunken pores too.

9# Anti-Agieng

Activated charcoal can help deal with signs of ageing by boosting blood circulation, enhancing collagen and elastin production; in turn, bringing down issues of ageing, such as skin wrinkles, discoloration and pigmentation, crow feet, fine lines etc.

10# Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties

Activated charcoal has both antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it a fantastic addition to any skin or hair care routine.Even pathogenic E. coli has been found in research to be destroyed by contact with activated carbon.

11# Whitens Teeth

This detoxing powder can be used with toothpaste or on its own to naturally and gently whiten teeth.

It works by bonding to many of the organic substances that stain teeth – including coffee, red wine, nicotine, and plaque. Although it lifts stains, it cannot bleach naturally darker or yellow teeth.

While activated carbon is abrasive, it tends to be gentler than many other products used in store-bought toothpastes – but it is still an abrasive, so don’t overuse it or scrub too hard.

12# Skin Tightening and Firming

As we age, the first signs of ageing seen apart from wrinkles and fine lines would be the sagging of our skin. Activated charcoal has been recommended and used by skin aestheticians over decades for tighter and firmer skin to have.
